Trident Investments Luxembourg is a Luxembourg-based Reserved Alternative Investment Fund (RAIF), a flexible alternative investment structure with a fund specialising in the sustainable energy industry. To provide the highest protection for our clients, the RAIF is domiciled in Luxembourg. Our RAIF is subject to Luxembourg Law of 23 July 2016 and is a regulated product.*  

 

To be qualified as an AIF under the AIFM Directive, TMF FUND MANAGEMENT S.A., authorised by CSSF, has been appointed as the AIFM. Trident Investments Luxembourg allows investors to diversify into sustainable energy investments and supports them as they navigate the sea of opportunities.

 

The Trident insignia represents the three key markets that founded the company: Europe, Middle East, and Asia. The sea connects all and the ruler yields the Trident, as we aspire to conquer the ever-changing investment seascape and emerge victorious.

 

* RAIFs are not under the direct supervision of the CSSF (Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier). The RAIF is subject to the principle of investment risk diversification with the possibility of creating multiple sub-funds.

Askar
Batyrbayev

Mr. Batyrbayev is an accomplished professional with more than 15 years of experience in the nuclear industry specialising in marketing and logistics. He was formerly with the largest uranium producer in the world, Kazatomprom, starting in 2006 as a marketing manager in Appak LLP ( a joint venture of NAC Kazatomprom JSC and two Japanese corporations ) and progressed to become the Chief Commercial Officer of the entire Kazatomprom group in 2021. As CCO, Mr. Batyrbayev was responsible for the commercial operations and logistics of the company, which accounts for 24% of the world's uranium production.

 

Mr. Batyrbayev played a critical role in growing the company and maintaining robust relationships with customers and partners. The company successfully coped with the pandemic and fulfilled client commitments amidst evolving geopolitical tensions. He significantly expanded Kazatomprom’s portfolio and client base from the USA, Europe and South America.

 

Mr. Batyrbayev is a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He completed both bachelor and graduate degrees in physics from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in 2005 and 2007, respectively. He also recently graduated from the Executive MBA program at the Graduate School of Business of Nazarbayev University in Astana, Kazakhstan. In 2022, he took academic residency as a scholar in Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, USA.

Mr. Buongiorno is the TEPCO Professor of Nuclear Science and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the Director of the Center for Advanced Nuclear Energy Systems (CANES), and the Director of Science and Technology of the MIT Nuclear Reactor Laboratory.      

 

Mr. Buongiorno has published over 100 journal articles in the areas of reactor safety and design, two-phase flow and heat transfer, and nanofluid technology. For his research work and teaching, he won several awards, among which was the 2022 ANS Presidential Citation. He is a consultant for the nuclear industry in the area of reactor thermal-hydraulics, and a member of the Accrediting Board of the National Academy of Nuclear Training. He is also a Fellow of the American Nuclear Society, a member of the ASME, past member of the Naval Studies Board (2017–2019), and a participant in the Defense Science Study Group (2014–2015).

Mohammed
Al Hijji

Mohammed Al-Hijji is a senior nuclear engineer at Qatar's Ministry of Environment and Climate Change with over a decade of experience. Since joining in 2012, he has significantly contributed to the nation’s nuclear safety framework, including drafting the Qatari nuclear law and managing the licensing and inspection of radioactive sources in medical and industrial applications.

 

As the former Head of the Ministry's Radiation Laboratory, Mohammed developed environmental radiation quality control standards, set national radiation exposure limits, created a nuclear safety plan for radiation emergencies, and monitored radioactive waste disposal.

 

He is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Bristol in the UK, focusing on developing a detection system for monitoring nuclear and radioactive sources in Qatari seawater to enhance safety measures. He holds a degree in Nuclear Engineering from Kyunghee University, South Korea, and a Master's in Nuclear Safety, Security, and Safeguards from the University of Central Lancashire, UK.

Philip Turner

Mr. Turner was appointed New Zealand Ambassador to the Republic of Korea (South Korea) in March 2018.

 

Mr. Turner has extensive experience as a diplomat and a business leader in North Asia, with a particular focus on North Asia. With the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, he served on postings to the New Zealand Embassies in Tokyo and Brussels. He then moved to Fonterra where he worked for 18 years in a variety of senior positions in Shanghai, Tokyo, Brussels and Auckland. He managed Fonterra’s business in China, and most recently was Director of Global Stakeholder Affairs at Fonterra in Auckland.

 

Mr. Turner attended the University of Auckland in New Zealand where he graduated with a First Class Master of Arts in History. He speaks fluent French and Japanese, conversational Chinese, and is enjoying becoming acquainted with the Korean language.

Sean Sexstone

Executive Vice Presidentfor Advanced Nuclear,GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy

Mr. Sexstone is the Executive Vice President, Advanced Nuclear for GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy. In this role, he leads the development and project delivery of the advanced nuclear business. He’s responsible for furthering the design progress of the BWRX-300 and Natrium projects, supporting customers, meeting product cost targets to ensure market competitiveness and developing key partnerships for global SMR deployment.

 

Mr. Sexstone joined GEH February 2022 from Aecon, where he was responsible for leading Aecon’s nuclear group with a focus on life extension projects, plant life maintenance projects, decommissioning and nuclear fabrication. While at Aecon, he led large capital projects including the refurbishment at Bruce Power and at OPG’s Darlington Nuclear Generating Station. Prior to Aecon, he gained EPC execution experience with CB&I/McDermott as well as utility experience with Entergy, focusing on project management, supply chain and vendor oversight.

 

Mr. Sexstone started his career with GE and eventually worked with GEH in several roles, including running multiple regions as the Vice President of Sales. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from West Virginia University, and a Master of Business Administration from Duke University, USA.

Franz

Mr. Franz possesses 22 years of experience in corporate banking, commodity trading and capital markets. He holds a Master of Business Administration, is a graduate of the University of Auckland and is a Harvard University alumnus. In addition, He is a Responsible Manager under the Australian Financial Markets Authority (AFMA), and is qualified under the New Zealand Financial Markets Authority (NZFMA). He is a member of The Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists and belongs to the Institute of Directors.
 

Mr. Franz founded PFYN Advisory Pte Ltd in 2018 to provide commodities and crypto currency trading for institutional clients. He manages a portfolio of physical commodities focusing on sustainable agriculture, energy, and rare earth metals for clients in China, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
 

Mr. Franz subsequently set up PFYN Capital AG, which is an authorised member of the Financial Service Standard Association (VQF), one of the leading industry associations under stringent supervision of the Swiss Federal Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA). As the head of the PFYN group, he oversees the entire operation. As part of his professional development, he joined the Air Force and holds a current Commercial Pilot License issued under the Civil Aviation Authority New Zealand, Civil Aviation Safety Authority Australia, and Federal Aviation Authority in the United States.

Hempel

Mr. Hempel, an expert niche metal trader with 30 years of physical commodity trading experience in emerging markets, is the appointed Fund Manager at Ouranos Energy. He started his career at Mannesmann Handel AG and subsequently furthered his study of Business Administration at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland.
 

In 1991, Mr Hempel joined the family business, F.W. Hempel Erze & Metalle GmbH & Co KG as a project manager in the foundry distribution division. He then progressed into the trading division and moved to the head office to lead operations for all alloys and metals in 1995.
 

Mr. Hempel actively takes part in various associations such as IMOA, ICDA, ITIA and IIMA. From 2007-2019, he served as president for IIMA, where he successfully merged IPIA and HBIA into IIMA, which elevated the organisation to be one of the leaders in the global irons and metals industry.

 

In 2017, Mr. Hempel became the CEO of Hempel Intermetaux SA, Geneva, Switzerland, specialising in commodity trading of noble alloys such as MO, V, W and CR.

Mr. Ng has been working in business strategy and planning for the past 20 years. He played key roles in executing global campaigns for Singapore Airlines, Coca-Cola, Mercedes Benz, MasterCard, OCBC Premier Banking, Saxo Bank, Citibank, Credit Suisse & Julius Bär.

 

Currently a Singapore Permanent Resident, Mr. Ng has been leading the business strategy and communication teams in reputable multinationals and has spearheaded many successful campaigns and delivering beyond clients’ business objectives.

 

Mr. Ng is the co-founder of the PFYN Group, which derives its name from the initials of its founders, Patrick Franz and Yan Ng. In the PFYN group, Mr. Ng oversees business strategy and market penetration plans, providing quality control on communications and investor relations. His duties involve go to market strategy and conceptualising bespoke customer journeys.

 

Mr Ng serves as a the head of corporate governance. He manages the implementation of effective and appropriate corporate conducts; establishing and maintaining internal and external control systems; as well as establishing and complying with ethical standards and best practices. He is responsible for overall company strategy for Trident Investments Luxembourg.

 

He holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Advertising from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia.
